My camera and microphone aren’t working

First, check your input settings by clicking the Settings wheel.

  • If you are in a Meet & Greet, find the Settings wheel under your video preview.
  • If you are watching a live event from a private or public room, find the Settings wheel in the bottom left corner of your screen.
  • If you are watching a live event from the lobby, join or create a room to access audio settings.

Once you have located the Settings wheel, click it to ensure your inputs and output selections match the devices you wish to use.

No luck? The issue might be related to your browser settings.

Which browser are you using?


Google Chrome

I'm joining an event or Meet & Greet for the first time.

When you enter a room or Meet & Greet on Flymachine for the first time, your browser will prompt you to allow access to your microphone and camera. Click Allow.

A small camera icon will appear on the right in your address bar.


My camera icon is visible in the address bar, but it shows a red X

The camera icon in the address bar will show a small red x if Chrome settings are set to block access to camera and microphone.

  • Click the camera icon to open the settings panel
  • Select Always allow http://flymachine.com to access your camera and microphone
  • Click Done

I didn't get prompted to allow access or I don't see a camera icon.
If you didn’t get prompted to allow access, don’t see a camera icon and can’t be heard or seen, or if you’ve already blocked access for this site, you’ll need to change the site permissions in Chrome site settings.

  • Go to Chrome site settings by clicking the lock icon to the left of the URL
  • Make sure all of the site permissions are toggled ON


  • Navigate back to the live event page and click the Reload option to activate your change    
  • Once you accept the privacy disclaimer, you’ll be dropped in the same room, but with camera and microphone on! 

I don't see Camera or Microphone settings.
If you don't see Camera or Microphone settings in the small dropdown menu, continue on to all Site settings.

  • Click the 3 dots to the right of your Chrome profile
  • Click Settings. A new tab will open.
  • Click Security and Privacy
  • Select Site Settings
  • Choose the Flymachine webpage
  • Set Camera and Microphone to Allow.
  • Close the site settings tab and navigate back to the Flymachine.com tab
  • Reload the page

Safari

I'm joining an event or Meet & Greet for the first time.

When you enter a room or join a Meet & Greet on Flymachine for the first time, your browser will ask you to allow access to your microphone and camera. Click Allow.

A red camera icon will appear on the right in your address bar.

My camera icon is visible in address bar, but the camera is crossed out
If the camera icon in the address bar appears crossed out, it means that camera access is paused.

  • Click the camera icon
  • Select Resume


I didn't get prompted to allow access or I don't see a camera icon.

If you didn’t get prompted to allow access, don’t see a camera icon and can’t be heard or seen, or if you’ve already blocked access for this site, you’ll need to change the site permissions in Safari settings.

  • In the top menu, select Safari
  • Navigate to Settings for This Website... 
  • In the settings panel, locate and update:
    • Camera - Allow
    • Microphone - Allow

Your camera and microphone are now on!


Firefox

I'm joining an event or Meet & Greet for the first time

When you enter a room on Flymachine for the first time, you’ll be asked to allow access to your microphone and camera. Click Allow

Note that if you choose not to check “Remember this decision”, Firefox will ask this question again for each device; allow each time.

A red camera icon will appear in the left of your address bar.


My camera icon is visible in address bar, but the camera is crossed out

If the camera icon in the address bar appears crossed out, it means that camera and/or microphone access is blocked. 

  • Click the X next to “Blocked” or “Blocked temporarily” to reset your preferences
  • Refresh the page to trigger the Firefox authorization prompt
  • When asked, click Allow

  • Click the 3-line menu in the top-right corner of your browser
  • Navigate to Preferences 
  • Click Privacy and Security on the left-hand side of the page
  • Scroll down to Permissions
  • Update the permissions for Camera:
    • Click Settings to the right
    • https://live.flymachine.com should be listed; change the status to Allow
    • Click Save Changes
    • Repeat these steps to update the permissions for Microphone:
    • Click Settings to the right
    • https://live.flymachine.com should be listed; change the status to Allow
    • Click Save Changes
  • Close the Preferences tab and reload the Flymachine tab to activate your changes

Your camera and microphone are now on!
